A former chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria for Rivers and Bayelsa states, Apostle Eugene Ogu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to act fast to stop US President Donald Trump from carrying out his threat to deploy military forces in Nigeria over allegations of killings of Christians in the country.

Ogu made the call while answering questions from newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday.

The cleric urged Tinubu to talk less and do more to stop the killings.

Trump had last Friday redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern amid claims that more than 7,000 Christians were killed in the first seven months of 2025, averaging 35 deaths daily and over 50,000 since 2009. He followed his statement the following day by threatening to deploy military forces in Nigeria if the government refused to stop the alleged Christian genocide.

Speaking with newsmen, Ogu said, ?Tinubu should stop talking and take quick action. He should start by naming and removing all those sponsoring and named in all forms of killings from his government and from all our security agencies.?

Ogu advised the President ?not to allow politicians to waste their ill-got money to organise and hire protesters? to call the bluff of the US President.

Rather, he said, Tinubu should direct the military to smoke out all killer herders from all communities where the original owners have been chased out and ensure they return to their homes.

The pastor said, ?There should be no room for politics anymore on securing the lives and properties of Nigeria. The President should act now and very fast to avoid the wrath of President Donald Trump.

?Let President Tinubu personally visit Dogo Nahawa community in Plateau State, for instance, and other flashpoints in the country, and find out what is going on there for proper action. The American government knows everything that is happening in this country even more than some of us do,? he stated.

The cleric noted that the present situation goes beyond diplomacy, adding that the Federal Government should write to Trump, asking to be given six months to address the issue.

The ex-PFN chairman added, ?A task force should be set up in each of the states to give to the president names of communities that have been invaded by Fulani herdsmen across the country.

?Those communities should be retrieved so that the original owners who fled the attacks can come back home. Again, cattle rearing must be stopped. Cattle rearing is a strategy to invade communities. Next is that every politician that is associated with Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen or terrorist groups must be removed from office and be prosecuted.

?Also, the so-called repentant militants who had been deployed to the Army, police and DSS should be removed. They should be sent to be retrained in farming. If you go to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the rest, you don?t see non-indigenes in their security forces,? he listed. (PUNCH)
