An Iyaganku Magistrates? Court, Ibadan, on Monday released one Shakor Ali, 23, farm attendant at L.O farms, Ido, Ibadan, who earlier pleaded guilty to stealing the company?s electric wire and a staff?s phone.

Ali was arraigned on Oct. 23, on two-count bordering on conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded guilty.

However, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda, remanded him at the Agodi Correctional Facility Ibadan and adjourned the case until Nov.3, for review of facts and judgment subsequently.

But on Monday when the case was mentioned, the Prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang informed the court that the company came to withdraw the case.

Tellang said that the company sent a representative, Mr Afeez Asiru, to request that the case be withdrawn because Ali?s family members begged the company to pardon him.

Atanda, therefore, withdrew the case and discharged Ali to go home.

The Prosecutor had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct.20, at about 4.00 p.m., at the aforementioned farm.

Tellang said that the defendant and others at large stole electric cable wire worth N500,000, belonging to the farm and a Tecno phone worth N120,000, belonging to a staff of the company.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
