The Akwa Ibom State Government says “ it is always ready to partner with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the delivery of healthcare services to the people.

The Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, made the remarks on Tuesday at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, headquarters of Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state, as he flagged-off a free medical treatment carried out by Pro-Health International, based in the USA, in collaboration with Nto Annang Foundation, USA Chapter, Samakon Foundation, as well as Moses Enoidem Foundation.

Mr. Ekpo stated that the state government took the healthcare delivery issue very seriously, and therefore would ‘’not spare any effort in collaborating with established NGOS to bring healthcare services to the door steps of Akwa Ibomites.’’

Ekpo, who is himself Board Chairman of Pro-Health International, said that the immediate-past administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio, had laid a solid foundation in the state’s healthcare sector, which he assured, ‘’the present administration would continue to build on.”

The deputy governor told the people that the new administration was set to unfold its industrialisation programme, which, according to him, “would entail a healthy and strong workforce,” and he commended the health service providers for complementing the government’s efforts in that direction, as well as the people of Ukanafun LGA, for coming out in large number for the free healthcare services.

The representative of Nto Annang, USA Chapter, Dr. Victor Obot, expressed gratitude to the state government and all the stakeholders for providing necessary assistance for successful delivery of the healthcare service.

The Head, Pro-Health International, Dr. Ikoedem Ibanga, pointed out that the partnership with the Akwa Ibom government, was enormous and of immense benefits to the people, while the Supervisor for Health, Ukanafun Local Government Council, Mr. Godwin Inyieng appreciated the state government, Pro-Health International, Nto Annang Foundation, USA Chapter, Samakon and Moses Enoidem Foundation, for considering the lingering healthcare needs of the people of the area, in providing the free medical treatments.
