I disagree with Babangida entirely on his exertion that 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup, contrary to various reports by those who should know better, by some actors in the coup and by the actions taken by the perpetrators during the coup, in which they killed all Northern and most Western politians and military officers, but didn’t kill any of the Eastern politicians and military officers at the time. There was justification for those atrocities committed by those Igbos Military officers who organized, executed and celebrated their actions publicly in the media.

IBB's confession is likely driven by the burdens of his past, but he seems to believe that mere remorse can undo the damage he intentionally caused.
