A former Bayelsa State governor and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva, on Friday appeared before the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja for questioning.

The DSS did not reveal the reason it invited the former governor for questioning.

The former governor has since returned to his home in Abuja.

Earlier reports on social media said the former Bayelsa State Governor was arrested.

Spokesman for Mr Sylva, Dofie Ola, told reporters that the former governor honoured a request by the DSS and was questioned.

There were no details about what the questioning was centred on.
