Thunderstorm to dominate today’s weather, says NiMET

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has made the following predictions about Nigerian weather condition for today, Tuesday, September 6, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Thunderstorms are expected to prevail in this region especially over Sokoto, Yelwa, Bauchi, Nguru and its environs. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 30 - 35°C.

CENTRAL STATES: Chances of localised thunderstorms over parts of Abuja, Jalingo, Yola, Mambilla Plateau, Makurdi and Lokoja in the morning. Localised thunderstorms are likely to prevail over Abuja, Jos, Kaduna and Lokoja in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 27- 31°C.

SOUTHERN STATES: Cloudy conditions are expected over Ibadan, Oshogbo, Shaki and its environs except Lagos that is expected to have some showers in the morning. There are prospects of rainfall activities around Port Harcourt, Ikom, Eket, Yenagoa, Benin and environs. Areas expected to be affected by afternoon rains include the coastal cities and places around Enugu, Onitsha, Awka, Ebonyi, Owerri, Calabar, Ogoja, Akure, Oshogbo, Ado-Ekiti, Benin, Asaba, Shaki, Abeokuta and Warri. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 29- 30°C.
