Governor Muhktar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has expressed the resolve of his administration to partner with five neighbouring states to tackle the menace of the bandits that have being terrorising the people of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Ahmed Maiyaki, the governor made this resolve during an assessment and sympathy visit of the areas attacked by the suspected robbers in Birnin Gwari in the wee hours of yesterday.
Governor Yero said the menace of the hoodlums is very worrisome, assuring that he would liaise with the governors of Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, Sokoto and Kebbi state that share borders with the Birnin Gwari LGA to ensure security of lives and property in the place and its environs.
He urged the people of the community to provide security agents with useful information that would assist them to apprehend the criminals in their midst.
Yero was at First Bank, Ecobank and Birnin Gwari Divisional Police Office that were attacked by the bandits, who killed three policemen and one civilian during the siege that lasted for over two hours – from around 1:30 a.m. Birnin Gwari is located over 100km from Kaduna metropolis.
Contrary to reports (not y News Express), no place of worship was attacked by the bandits, who have been terrorising the area and the five neighbouring states for some time now.
