A State Government fumigation Team on COVID-19 has visited Ngor Okpala Local Government Area to fumigate important institutions and public places as a way of checking the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The IMC Chairman, Chief Mayor Obinna Nweke, represented by the Leader of the Council, Hon. Remy Okere, received the team at the Local Government Council Headquarters, Umuneke, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Other members of the IMC Ngor Okpala and the NULGE Chairman, Ngor Okpala Local Government Council, Comr. Obinna Nwaorgu, were already waiting at the Local Government Headquarters before the team’s arrival.
The leader of the Fumigation Team explained that the team was on a special assignment as directed by the State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, who has ordered the fumigation of all the LGAs in the state. He said the Governor is not leaving any stone unturned in tackling the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
To start its assignment, the team fumigated the environment of the Local Government Council Headquarters. They were thereafter led to other State Government-recognised markets and institutions in Ngor Okpala, where they also carried out the fumigation exercise. Nkwoala Market in Eziama, Ngor Okpala, was among the places fumigated.
The Representative of the IMC Chairman, Hon. Remy Okere, applauded Governor Uzodimma for conducting the fumigation exercise in Ngor Okpala LGA, describing the Governor as a man that takes health issues very seriously. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing other health facilities in the LGA to combat the dreaded Coronavirus. He told the Team Leader that the IMC Chairman had recently distributed Vent Face Masks, buckets for running water, liquid soaps and alcohol-based hand sanitisers through the Ward Chairmen to all the 11 Wards in the LGA.
