Leading online newspaper News Express (www.newsexpressngr.com) has published full details of the monthly position of Nigeria’s foreign reserves for the years 2007 and 2012 as part of its contribution to the ongoing debate between the Nigerian Government and former World Bank Vice President for Africa, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.
The true position of the country’s foreign reserves has generated heated debate since last Friday when Dr. Ezekwesisli, at various times Minister of Solid Minerals and Education, accused the Goodluck Jonathan administration and the preceding regime of the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua of squandering $67 billion foreign reserves left by the Olusegun Obasanjo government in May 2007.
Yesterday, News Express obtained certified true copies of the country’s foreign reserve documents signed by the Reserve Management Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) covering the years in dispute – 2007-2012. The full monthly figures for the years 2007 and 2012 have been published in our Photo Gallery for interested readers to download and study so as to be better informed on the debate of the moment.
