The Chairman, Kaduna State All Progressive Congress (APC) says former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s resignation from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and tearing of his membership card in public calls for celebration.

Addressing media men in Kaduna shortly after the APC council meeting on Monday, Alh. Othman Suleiman Hukuyi said that for a highly respected figure in the country of Obasanjo’s caliber to publicly tear his PDP membership card is a very serious issue to ponder about. “To us in APC we will humbly accept him if he decides to join us,” the Kaduna APC Chairman said.

Commenting on the recent attack on some APC members in the state which led to the death of two of them, Hunkuyi said: “We managed to reach the families of the deceased for condolences. We are deeply worried by the attack. We are collecting evidence; it will be submitted to the police and we may sue the attackers.”

On the text messages being circulated on Kaduna APC governorship flag-bearer, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, Hunkuyi said: “I have seen all of it; some that I saw, they are hitting below the belt. We very strong and we are coming with a campaign of issues. PDP in Kaduna State has failed and that is why we want to achieve what they have failed to achieve in 16 years of their tenure.”

Hunkuyi disclosed that the meeting was called to review the postponement of the 2015 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from Feb. 14 and 29 to March 28 and April 11. “I want to assure members of the public that the postponement will ginger us more and even make us even stronger,” he said.

Hunkuyi, who is a senatorial candidate, f appealed to the teeming supporters of APC in the state to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their hands.

He also solicited the support and cooperation of the media towards sensitising members of the public on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Cards.
