The North is now almost 9 million Permanent Voters’ cards (PVCs) ahead of the South, with barely five weeks to Nigeria’s rescheduled presidential election holding on March 28.
“No. of PVCs distributed in the North including the FCT as at 4th February 2015 = 26,866,708. No. of PVCs distributed in the South as at the referenced date = 18, 000, 703. This shows that the North surpasses the South in updated PVCs distribution with to the tune of 8,866,005,” the International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) said today in its update on PVC distribution.
“Shockingly too, Borno State, which is torn apart by Islamist Boko Haram insurgency, has more PVCS (1,320,667) than the non insurgency State of Anambra (1,222,002),” the group further said in the third and concluding part of its statement ‘How INEC Tainted & Sectionalised Nigeria’s National Register of Voters’, issued in Onitsha. According to Intersociety:
10. No. of Registered Voters summarily deleted by INEC in the same period in the South (Oyo State) = 71,566
11. No. of newly Registered Voters captured in the North in 2014 = 372,789
12. No. of newly Registered Voters captured in the South in 2014 = 1,757,713
13. Total number of newly Registered Voters captured in Nigeria in 2014 = 2,130,502
14. The remainder of Post-AFIS Registered Voters of 2014 (70,383,427) after deletion of 3,796,767 and addition of 2, 130, 502 newly Registered Voters = 66,586,660.

47. The total number of PVCs distributed in six North-West States of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto and Kebbi, which is 12,415,428; is much higher than the PVCs distributed in the entire 13 States of the South-south and the South-East, which is 11,543,676.
48. The number of PVCs distributed (allocated) in the North-East, which is 6,917,389; out of its total registered voters of 9,107,861; is higher than that of the South-West, which is 6,457,029, out of its total registered voters of 13,814,735.
