Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Chapter, on Monday embarked on a warning strike to press home its demands for improved welfare of its members by the school management.
The strike has crippled academic activities in the institution.
When our Reporter visited the permanent site of the institution, Ezzamgbo, the school was very scanty as few students were seen walking about.
It was observed that though the lecturers were coming to school, they were, however, not entering the classes to teach the students.
Speaking on the action, the ASSU- EBSU Chapter Chairman, Dr Ifeanyi Igwenyi said the Union decided to embark on the strike because all efforts to make the school management to listen to its demands have proved abortive.
“All the efforts we have been making to ensure that there is effective communication between ASUU and the management has not yielded fruit and so we decided to embark on what we call active noncompliance,” he said. (New Telegraph)
