The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, has assigned an orderly to each of the reinstated local government chairman, News Express learnt on Tuesday.

The council chairmen suspended by Governor Seyi Makinde had, on Monday, broken into their offices, chasing away the caretaker committee members appointed by Makinde.

While the affected council chairmen belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC) – the erstwhile ruling party in the state – Makinde is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Today, the CP assigned one police orderly to each of the elected chairmen who were earlier suspended,” a source close to some of the beneficiaries disclosed.

He said the action was in keeping with last week’s directive by the Presidency, through the Attorney General of the Federation, which issued a letter to all state governors to reinstate all suspended elected council chairmen sacked by them.
