Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN, has urged Nigerians to always seek for the good, peace and unity of the country in this new year and beyond. This, according to him, is about the only way through which individual and national aspirations can be quickly realised.

Prof. Utuama in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Augustine Avwode, said that 2015 is a crucial year for Nigeria because it is a year in which elections would be held into various offices throughout the country. He, therefore, urged Nigerians to first and foremost ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of free and fair elections and do everything at their disposal to ensure the continued unity of Nigeria as an indivisible entity that caters for all.

“We are grateful to God for making it possible for all of us to witness this New Year, 2015,” Utuama said. “It is an important one for this country because it is an election year. We are going to elect people into various offices to lead and direct the affairs of this country for the next four years. As a result of this, I want to advise all Nigerians to please seek and ensure that there is peace wherever they are and in whatever we do. It is only when there is peace that we can hold successful elections in line with democratic ethos.

“Besides, I wish to also advise Nigerians to maintain the bond of unity in the country. Once there is peace and unity in the country, whatever aspirations any individual has can be realised. But without these two things, it becomes difficult to make progress as individuals and as a nation.”
