Transcorp President declares for Anambra Governor

An international business man, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, weekend declared his interest to run for the governorship seat of Anambra State come 2021 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing stakeholders and members of his ward in his Amesi country home, Aguata Local Government Area of the State, Ozigbo appealed for support from the people to actualize his dream of succeeding the incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano.

He said that he was drawn to contest so as to impact more in the society and also improve on the level of governance in the state.

“I will give Anambra the best. I will do in Anambra state, what I did for eight years in Transcorp that made it turn to be the best hospitality industry in Africa for 5 consecutive years.

“I led Transcorp to success in the energy sector, hospitality industry and agriculture. In the same way I will champion Anambra interest for the good of all as I would galvanize Anambra billionaires for the common good of the state.”

The Amesi-born international businessman said the four major programmes of his foundation, which include Youth Empowerment, Scholarship, Business Empowerment and Seasonal Concerts will be hampered as a governor.

He recalled that together with legendary football star, Kanu Nwankwo, they introduced the Freestyle Football Association (FFA) in Nigeria adding that the country will host the world freestyle football next year with over 70 countries participating.

In his speech, the PDP chairman, Amesi ward, Afam Okpalauzegbu and Gab Egeonu encouraged all Amesi and Aguata people to support Val Ozigbo actualise his dream of serving Anambra people as Governor.

Ozigbo before now was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc for 8 years before becoming President of the group.

He has over 17 years experience in the banking sector with NAL Merchant Bank, Diamond Bank, Continental Trust Bank, FSB International Bank, Standard Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa and Bank PHB.
