Floating body discovered on river bank in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has discovered the body of a yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man floating on a river bank in Ojoto community in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The lifeless body, which was discovered at 10a.m., on Thursday, following a tip-off, was said to have been tied behind his back with bruises on his head.

Confirming the discovery in a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said: “Today 21/11/2019 at about 10:00am, following a tip off, Police Patrol team attached to Ojoto Division discovered lifeless body of a middle aged man whose identity is yet unknown floating on the river bank with his hands tied behind his back and bruises all over his head.

“Corpse was brought out of the river, photographed and deposited at St Michael Hospital Mortuary Umuoji for autopsy.”

Mohammed said that the Commissioner of Police CP John B. Abang has ordered for a full-scale investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring perpetrators to justice.

The Command called on members of the public whose relations got missing and matched above description to report at Ojoto Division for possible identification of the corpse.
