In continuation of its preparation for the 2015 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Oyo State Chapter, will today (Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014) organise its primary election expected to produce a gubernatorial candidate among its three members who have been cleared to participate in the exercise.

In a statement issued yesterday in Ibadan and signed by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the party urged the public to disregard the rumour of the postponement or cancellation of the exercise as it had prepared adequately for the conduct of a free, free and acceptable election.

According to the statement, “The process of nominating a candidate among the trio of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Barrister Adebayo Shittu and Dr. Ayobami Adesina, through an indirect primary, which would be determined by only eligible delegates, will be concluded tomorrow. The exercise shall begin at 8am with accreditation of delegates from all the 33 local government areas in the state, and voting will follow immediately at the main bowl of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

“To this end, we urge the general public to disregard any contrary information emanating from certain quarters bearing in mind that the exercise is in compliance with the directive of the national headquarters of our great party. In fact, the six-man committee led by Hon. Lumumba Adeh has been around since last weekend and we are calling on all stakeholders from within and outside the APC to ensure the success of the exercise.”

The party further said that the loud statement which it made on Tuesday, when it conducted the best party primaries in the state, would put it in good position to achieve the best in its subsequent election exercise.

“We are assuring the whole world that the feat would be improved upon in the subsequent ones as lined up ahead of the 2015 general elections in our quest to restore the confidence of Nigerians in the nation’s political development,” Oyo APC said.
