The police in Kaduna State have arrested 45 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers said to have been terrorising travellers and residents along the Kaduna-Abuja highway and Kaduna- Birnin Gwari road.
Among the suspects were abductors of three students of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Suleiman Sabo.
Addressing journalists, the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga, said they were arrested at different locations during several operations carried out by men of the command and the Inspector of Police Rapid Response Team.
According to him, the suspects confessed to being responsible for the killing of three operatives of the IGP’s Intelligent Response Team (IRT) in 2018 and the recent kidnapping of an Islamic cleric, sheik Ahmad Algarkawi among other crimes.
