Bloody clash engulfs Abakaliki market

A bloody clash on Wednesday has engulfed the popular Abakpa Market In Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

An eye witness told Daily Independent that the clash started when officials of the Ebonyi State government entered the market to enforce government directives on tax.

As at the time of filing this report, no fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead.

To curtail the incident police in the state have resorted to indiscriminate arrests of traders. (Daily Independent)
