Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, will tomorrow, November 14, 2014, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, deliver the 3rd Zik Lecture. The title of the Lecture is ‘Magic Lantern: Excursions in the Creative Realm’.
The lecture, according to the Chairman, Organising Committee, Dr. Harry Obi Nwosu, and Secretary, Anekwe Sebastine, “will be a meeting point of who is who.”
The duo said in a statement issued today in the Anambra State capital: “The Zik Lecture Series is an annual event endowed by Distinguished Senator Ben Ndi Obi, CON, Special Adviser to the President on Inter Party Affairs. The first of the Zik Lecture Series was held on 28th November, 2012. The Guest Lecturer was a Professor of Political Science, Okwudiba Nnoli, and the title of his Lecture was ‘Democracy and Security in Nigeria’.
“The second Lecture was held on 8th March, 2013. The guest Lecturer was Prof. Asisi Asobie, who lectured on ‘Eradicating Corruption in Africa’. At that lecture the Special Guest of Honour was the former President of Ghana Flt. Lt. J. J. Rawlings.
“This third Lecture to be delivered by a Professor of Literature and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, will be chaired by the Former Commonwealth Secretary, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, CFR. His Excellency, the Governor of Anambra State, is scheduled to be the Special Guest of Honour.
“The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the organisers of the event, Rev. Fr. Prof. Jude Ezeokana, invites the general public, especially the University Community, to the Lecture.”
