Former Governor of Anambra State and PDP vice presidential candidate in the February 2019 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has asked Nigerians to pray that God should touch the hearts of politicians so that they can use public funds for the good of the people.

Obi made this solemn request this morning in Lagos during the commissioning and ordination of cadets of The Salvation Army, Nigeria Territory.

Addressing the large congregation during the event, the astute politician said: “Nigeria will be a great nation far ahead of other nations in the world if things are done in the right way. There is no excuse for poverty, hunger or illiteracy whatsoever in this country.

“Nigeria is blessed by God with abundant natural resources that should make her great. But Nigerians need to pray. Pray that God should touch the hearts of politicians to use public funds entrusted in their care for the good of the people. And that includes me Peter Obi.

“That way, our country will be the giant God made it to be.”

The leader of The Salvation Army in Nigeria, Colonel Victor Leslie, thereafter called for special congregational prayers for Nigerian politicians and the country as a whole.

A total of 31 cadets were commissioned and ordained during the occasion to serve as full time officers of the international movement founded in 1865 in London by William Booth and which is today the largest Christian denomination known internationally for its humanitarian services.
