Traditional rulers in Ogun State have said Ifa deities are angry with Nigerian leaders for not given them due recognitions.

Chief Akanbi Ifasola Olaosebikan, Olori Akeyo Onifa Obantoko/ Kemta Abeokuta and Chief Onifade Ogundele, Abere Ifa, Oluwo Ifalolese Iluparapo Oke Odo Labaiwa, Oke Aregba Abeokuta, who disclosed this at the worship of Ifa in Abeokuta, said it is only through due recognition and respect to the deities that the country overcome series of attacks and insecurity facing her as a nation.

They said Nigeria was founded by the deities, adding that Islam and Christianity came into the country in 1842. He said the nation’s forefathers had been worshipping their various deities believing that they are serving the Supreme God.

They implored the federal government to give proper recognition to traditional worshippers as being recognised by the nation’s constitution.

In his earlier remarks, Chief Ganiyu Baoku Tantala, the Oluwo Ifa of Egbaland, implored Governor Dapo Abiodun to declare every 20th day of October as public holiday for Isese day. (Daily Independent)
