A business mogul cum politician, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, has declared his interest to contest the governorship election of Anambra come 2021.
He made the declaration in Awka on Saturday in the company of over 150 members of Progressives People’s Alliance (PPA) including the Anambra State Chairman of the party, Sir Daniel Igbokwubili, and his executive members.
Recall that Ezeemo joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with more than half of his party folks as well as the entire executive members in PPA to PDP during last year’s presidential election.
He was also the major financier of the party prior to his defection to PDP in 2018.
Addressing party faithful at the party secretariat in Awka, the two time governorship candidate under the platform of PPA pledged his total commitment as a stakeholder of the party saying that if given the opportunity, he will want to be part of team to reposition PDP and move Anambra State forward.
Ezeemo used the occasion to hand over an 18-siter bus and financial assistance for up-keep of PDP in the state.
He hailed the leadership of the party for welcoming him into their fold and for more so being free and fair in its activities during the 2019 general elections.
His words: “I am an individual with passion to make Anambra, Igbo nation, Nigeria and Africa best place to live. I have lived in London and Lagos state for long. I decided to return to my home town permanently out of my own volition.
“We are suffering here. I want to play a part in making us smile again. Black man must be emancipated. I want to make Igbo realise and utilise their creative ingenuity.
“I want to officially inform you that I will run for governorship election in 2021. Don’t see me as an ambitious man. I would have quit politics if my venture into it was born out of mere ambition. It is a passion to render selfless services, a passion to uplift the Igbo nation.”
In his response, the state Chairman of PDP, Sir Ndubuisi Nwobu, thanked Ezeemo for coming to assist in the regrowth of the party in the state.
He gave assurance that the party would conduct a free and fair gubernatorial primary during the forthcoming election even as he urged him not to relent in canvassing for the support of party faithful.
