Contrary to the belief in some quarters that he may have jettisoned his presidential ambition, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, is still very much in the rase. He disclosed this at the Government House, Owerri, this morning, during breakfast with media chiefs in town for the 2014 Nigerian Media Merit Award (NMMA), which his administration is hosting this evening at the International Conference Centre.

“I am going to declare on the 25th,” Okorocha, who is Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum, said.

“There is need for me to be President,” Okorocha further said. “My vision is driving me crazy.”

He spoke of how he has radically changed Imo State for the good in only three years of being in power and explained that his vision is to transform Nigeria in a similar fashion.

Asked why he is entering the race despite the presence of other APC heavyweights such as former Head of State Muhammadu Buhari, one-time Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and newspaper publisher Sam Ndah-Isaiah, Okorocha said: “If I see anyone who can do the job better, God is my witness, I will not run for President.”
