President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, assented to the bill passed by the 8th National Assembly, upgrading the College of Agriculture, Zuru, Kebbi State, to a full-fledged University. The bill was sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, the Deputy Senate Leader of the 8th Senate.

The bill passed through concurrence at the tail end of the 8th Assembly.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Mr Ita Enang, at a press conference Wednesday in Abuja, said the assenting of the Federal College of Agriculture Bill had upgraded the school from a Federal College of Agriculture to a full-fledged Federal University of Agriculture, with all the powers and status of a university.

Mr Enang also disclosed the President’s assent to a Bill on Architects Registration Council.

Meanwhile, eulogies have continued to pour in on the approval of the university by President Buhari.

Rufai Mazangari, PhD, Senior Lecturer and ICT Consultant, Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, described it as a great achievement and something that has never been heard of in the history of Nigeria.

“A single individual (Senator Na’Allah) spearheaded the establishment of a university. Indeed, this is remarkable. Congratulations to the most hardworking Senator,” he said.

Jabir Abubakar Yauri said posterity will definitely deem Senator Na’Allah a hero and the vanguard of the people of Kebbi South.

He said that Kebbi South now has a university, which is a sign of progress that will precipitate the area’s development, adding that it will provide job opportunities, improved agriculture, economic growth, as well as serve as a golden opportunity for students of Kebbi South to further their education.

“Of course history is made with this historic development and this also testify the fact that competency is better than multifariousity in leadership,” he said.

“It’s a giant stride for the Senator and we will forever remain grateful to God for giving us a focused and brilliant representative like him,” Umaru Mabutu, retired health worker in Zuru, said.

“God bless our Senator, God bless Zuru people, God bless Buhari, God bless Nigeria. From now on and off, from generation to generation, Zuru and Kebbi State in extension will forever remain Grateful to our Senator Bala Ibn Naallah. May God bless his parents and all those who stood by him to this end.

“He has written his name in gold and he has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he has his people at heart,” Bamaiyi Aniko Dabai said.

“This calls for a grand dinner to celebrate Sen Bala Ibn NaAllah under Zuru Patriotic Forum (ZPF) to confer award and letter of commendation to Sen. Bala Ibn NaAllah,” Sani Yusuf Tadi, Chairman of ZPF, said.

On his part, Lawal Umar, PhD, said: “Good news and development for our Zuru People. Congratulations to our people. The senator deserves to be fantastically honoured and celebrated by the good people of Zuruland.”
