Following heightened insecurity and political tension in the country, some concerned statesmen and women rose from an emergency meeting held in Lagos on Friday, calling for a national coercion against terrorism in the country.

The meeting was held under the umbrella of Project Nigeria Movement, The Patriots, Pro National Conference Organisations (PRONACO) and other civil society groups led by

Professor Ben Nwabueze SAN, Chief Emelia Anyaokwu , Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, General Alani Akinrade, Solomon Asemota, Obong (Arc) Victor Attah, Professor Kinsey Okoko, among others.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting was signed on behalf of the coalition by Professor Pat Utomi,  Mr Donald Duke, Dr Kunle Olajide, Professor Anthony Kila and Sir Olawale Okunniyi, head of the secretariat.

The seven-point communique, a copy of which was made available to News Express, condemned in unequivocal terms the incessant and cruel murder of innocent Nigerians across the country by invading and local bandits and terrorists.

The meeting also called on President Muhammadu Buhari, being the country’s chief security officer, to as a matter of urgency set up a machinery to stop the killings and call the marauders and their sponsors to book, no matter who they are.
