Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria have returned to the streets of the nation’s capital, to protest the continued detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

Police fired tear gas canisters to disperse them while some members of the group were arrested.

The latest protest took place at the Federal secretariat area.

On Tuesday, several vehicles were damaged while five policemen were injured during a similar clash at the national assembly.

Forty suspects were arrested in connection with the Tuesday incident.

According to the FCT police spokesman, Mr. Anjuguri Manzah, those arrested have been arraigned at several courts within the nation’s capital. (Channels TV)
