Tony O. Elumelu receives Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize

Chairman of UBA Plc, Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, C.O.N, has received a Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize for Sustainable Development in Africa. He was so honoured on Friday at an award ceremony in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The prize is awarded by the Millennium Excellence Foundation to celebrate global personalities “whose equals are hard to find on the continent and even the world.” It is to serve as recognition for their altruistic work toward the empowerment of the African continent.

Heads of State, Ministers of State, Corporate Africa and the global media converged on Awka Ibom in recognition of the commitment of the honorees to achieving sustained economic growth and development for Africa.

Others who were honoured alongside Elumelu include President Goodluck E. Jonathan; His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of Ghana; Carlos Lopes, Chair of the UN Economic Committee on Africa; Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank; Jay Naidoo, Chair of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition; Folorunsho Alakija, Founder of Famfa Oil; and Tidjane Thiam, CEO of Prudential Plc.
