Immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, did not voluntarily leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) but was forced out, his spokesman has said.
Mr. Valentine Obienyem, Media Aide to made the clarification while responding to those who accuse Obi, who joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, of going back on his promise not to leave APGA.
Obienyem wrote this afternoon on Facebook: “Did he leave APGA? He did not, he was not wanted. Since he left office, how many APGA functions were he invited to? Just last week, I was passing with him through Owerri and we saw many vehicles going for an APGA function – rally – with APGA inscriptions. It took him phone calls to ascertain that APGA was doing a mega rally in Owerri.
“Since he left office, how many APGA hierarchy have called him on the phone or visited him?
“Do you have to be killed first before you realize that you are not wanted?
“Did you see the array of PDP members that visited him and the kind words appreciative of his character and personal rectitude?”
Obienyem concluded with an Igbo expression. “Let Ndi na anyu ya nsi n'isi choo onye ozo ha ga na anyu ya bu nsi”, meaning “Let those who have been defecating on his head look for another person on whose head to defecate.”•Photo shows Peter Obi.
