A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in Edo State, Abdulrazak Momoh, is currently unconscious at the University of Benin Teaching hospital (UBTH) in Benin City after he reportedly came under attack from dozens of thugs at his official residence. The incident was said to have occurred yesterday.

PDP factional speaker Festus Ebea led a delegation of PDP lawmakers to the hospital to see how Momoh was doing.

At the time of filing this report, Hon. Momoh was lying motionless on his hospital bed.

However, Ebea informed reporters that the doctor attending to him has assured that he would be able to regain consciousness.

Ebea fingered unnamed APC legislators for the attack. Ebea narrated: “He (Momoh) was being prevented from entering his official residence in GRA. He had his family inside there. So he left his car outside and tried to see how he could retrieve his family. At that point they came in . . . from what I heard, some honourable members and some other thugs, they cut off the light supply to his apartment. They brutalised his wife and himself. Trying to shield his wife from attack, he was beaten black and blue with many lacerations in his skull.

“I was called by a Good Samaritan who picked him up and he told me he said ‘call the PDP factional speaker Festus Ebea’. Then he passed out.”

Ebea called on the police to bring the culprits to book.

“We the PDP members of the House have now become endangered species,” Ebea said, while informing that some PDP lawmakers have come under attack in the recent past since the Edo House of Assembly became engulfed in partisan crisis some months ago.
