Africa missing from list of top 100 world universities

No university in Africa can be counted among the world’s top 100, according to a survey the result of which was published today. The list is expectedly dominated by American and European universities.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-2015, powered by Thomson Reuters, are the only global university performance tables to judge world-class universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The top universities rankings employ 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available, which are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.

The California Institute of Technology maintains its position as the top-ranked university worldwide while Harvard University retains the second place, with the University of Oxford slipping one place from joint second to third. The top 100 universities are shown here:
