Boko Haram Over-runs Shuwa Town In Adamawa

Boko Haram fighters have over-run Shuwa town in Madagali Local Government A rea of Adamawa State sending the people scampered to neighboring towns.

Reports in Shuwa said the insurgents have invaded the town using Hilux vans, Tata trucks and motorcycles.

Reports from some eyewitness accounts said many houses have been burnt and the entire town have remained a ghost town as thousands of people are fleeing the area.

Some non-governmental organizations NGOs based in Mubi said large numbers of fleeing people of Shuwa are trooping into Mubi while Michika town which is 5km from Shuwa town has seen the fighters running into the town before returning back to Shuwa their base.

It was not clear if the military responded because the military was said to have been overwhelmed as several Boko Haram invasions took place in the neighbouring communities of Lassa, Shuwa, Uba and other places which have been under serious attacks from Boko Haram recently. (Independent)
