New Bayelsa Commissioner of Police pledges intelligence gathering, community policing

The new Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr. Uche Anozia, has pledged to give special attention to intelligence gathering and community policing. Addressing officers and men and equally briefing the press at the Police Officers Mess, Yenagoa, the state capital, the CP underscored the crucial nature of community policing and intelligence gathering. 

He further stressed the need for “serious collaboration with the civil society in fighting crime, especially, partnering with the media in achieving its mandate in the security of lives and property.” The new state police chief equally appealed to the general public to have confident in the police, pledges safer Bayelsa. 

Anozia disclosed that he has been briefed on major crimes in the state, notably rape, inter and intra community disputes, armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism, among others.

He enjoined officers and men of the force, especially Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Area Commanders and other departmental heads of the police to be very serious in the discharge of their duties and be very professional.
