Former Chair of Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mrs Calista Adimachukwu, has emerged pioneer National Women Leader of the pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo, in a keen contest where Mrs Obianuju Nwanneka was elected deputy National Women Leader.

In her acceptance speech, the highly elated pioneer Women Leader thanked the hierarchy of the organisation under the leadership of Dr. Gary Enwo-Igariwey, for creating the enabling platform and conducive environment in which the Igbo women are making their contributions in running of Igbo affairs.

Mrs Adimachukwu, who defeated a former Commissioner for Works in Anambra State, Hon (Mrs) Chika Ibeneme, to emerge winner promised to carry everyone along, including those that lost out at the poll, in the spirit of oneness and to march towards improving the lot of Igbo women.

The ex-LG boss enjoined all to join hands with the newly elected officers to fashion out ways to take Igbo land to a greater height. The pioneer leader, fondly called Mmilioma, said she will ensure that the labours of Igbo heroes past are not only remembered, but celebrated.
