The Anambra State Government has concluded plans to ensure a minimum of 15 hours daily electricity supply to the state capital, Awka, and environs.
Disclosing this to journalists on Saturday in Awka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Utilities, Mr. Victor Meju, said that the State Government has extended support to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in order to facilitate the installation of adequate transformers in many communities across the state to enhance power supply.
He said that with the support of the state Ministry of Public Utilities, EEDC is currently installing a 15 Mega Voltage Amp (MVA) in Agu-Awka and another 7.5MVA at the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Awka.
The measure, according to Meju, is aimed at drastically improving electricity supply in areas like Government House, Ifite Awka, Okpuno, Nodu, Isuanocha, Agu-Awka, and surrounding areas.
Meju added that government would also extend such measure to other towns in the state to make the entire Anambra an envy of all.
