All is set for the commissioning of the Oshodi Bus Interchange in Lagos by President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24, 2019.
Conducting select newsmen on a tour of the project on Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Biodun Otuola, MD/CEO of the contractors, Planet Projects Limited, assured that Terminal Three of the interchange is ready for commissioning.
“Terminal One and Terminal Two are expected to be ready later,” Mr. Otuola said.
He described the Oshodi bus interchange as “not just an infrastructure project but a problem-solving project”.
He explained that Oshodi is presently chaotic because it had 13 motor parks with attendant traffic, security and environmental challenges.
He praised the Lagos State Government for embarking on the Oshodi Bus Interchange, which he said will provide a serene, safe and orderly environment for about a million passengers expected to use the facility daily when completed and fully operational.
“The Oshodi Bus Interchange is well secured and meant to make travel pleasurable. It is fully air-conditioned, has CCTV and control room. There are six lifts and fire system. The aesthetic value will also enhance the beauty of the environment,” Otuola said.
He disclosed that project was conceived and designed by his company while the execution is by a 99.9 per cent Nigerian team.
He explained that upon completion of the project, Terminal One will be used by inter-city bus operators, including those servicing the West Africa route, while Terminal Two will service Lagos West and Terminal Three Lagos East.
