A Lagos lawyer and journalist Gbolahan Gbadamosi has advised the Lagos State Government to name a portion of the Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo, after late Vice Chairman of The Sun Newspapers, Pastor Igwe Dimgba.
Gbadamosi in a condolence message to the Managing Director of The Sun, Mr. Femi Adesina, said: “My suggestion is not the view of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), of which I am the National Publicity Secretary but as a journalist, a friend and a former resident of a street off Ago Palace Way.
“I know the road well and I know also that construction is going on there now. As soon as the road construction ends, a portion of it should be named after him.”
He added that “a hero or heroine doesnot go out to make a name for himself or herself; circumstances do. Dimgba didnot set out on that day to die so that his name should be on marble. The unfortunate incident created it. Dimgba was a hero not only to the media world but to the whole nation. He should be honoured.
“My heart and prayers go to his immediate family, The Sun Newspapers and to the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm for this irreparable loss.”
