Popular transporter, E. Ekesons Bros. Nig. Ltd., through her legal counsel, Festus Keyamo Chambers, has urged the FCT High Court, Abuja, to send three principal officers of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) to prison for disobeying court order. They are Hon. Adamu Candido, Chairman; Hon. Lawrence Val Onuchukwu, Vice Chairman; and Hon. Halidu Adamu, Secretary.

The FCT High Court had on October 2, 2015 delivered judgment in favour of Ekesons against AMAC wherein the court held that the agreement between the parties for Ekesons to develop and manage the Jabi/Utako Motor Park was still subsisting and binding. The court also ordered AMAC to comply and/or abide by the terms of the said agreement.

But, according to Ekesons, “Since the judgment was delivered, the AMAC Principal Officers have continuously disobeyed the said judgment, by allocating certain portions of the said Jabi/Utako Motor Park to some persons who have proceeded to erect structures on same, contrary to the terms of the agreement, as affirmed by the court.”

Consequently, Ekesons has filed contempt proceedings against the three principal officers of AMAC, urging the court to commit them to prisons.

The application is listed for hearing on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 before Honourable Justice O. C. Agbaza of the FCT High Court, sitting in Jabi, Abuja.
