The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, on Monday promised to expand the state’s economic base in the remaining three years of his administration.

Obiano made the promise in a message to mark the first year anniversary of his second term in office.

Obiano announced that the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has hit N4trillion mark in the five years of his administration. He explained that the GDP had increased from N3 trillion that he met when he came on board five years ago to the new all-time high mark.

While hailing the people for the support they have given to his administration, he gave the assurance that he will not rest on his oars but do more for posterity.

The Governor further applauded the performance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the March 9 House of Assembly election, describing it as an endorsement of his achievements in all sectors of the state’s economy in the past five years.

Obiano said: “I have been able, within my five years in office, to change the fortunes of the state better than I met it.

“I appreciate Anambra people for supporting me, irrespective of political affiliations and inclinations. The GDP of the state has increased from N3 trillion to N4.2 trillion in the last five years.

“Forbes Magazine USA recently recommended the state government’s ‘Community Choose Your Project Initiative’ as a model for the development of Africa.”

The Governor promised to remain focused and not hesitate to replace anybody not performing in his cabinet.

The Governor particularly warned members of the State Executive to avoid complacency as that will not be tolerated in the remaining part of his administration adding that anyone found wanting would be shown the door.
