Why APGA failed in National Assembly election: National Chairman

  The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye, has dismissed the party’s loss at the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly election as a chance winning for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said that PDP won because people voted out of the sentiment that an Igbo man was contesting the vice presidential slot.

Oye, who spoke to journalists on Saturday after casting his vote in his Egbeagbu ward 1, Amawbia, said that the state has been and would remain an APGA state, saying that the PDP are only interlopers.

His words: Anambra State has been and would remain an APGA state. PDP are interlopers and they can never win any political contest in this state.

“What happened on the day of the presidential and national assembly election was that voters voted out of sentiment and I don’t see it repeating again.

“I was here on that day, just like I am here today and I was just watching as people were running up and down. I didn’t manipulate anything. I just allowed people to make their choice.”

Oye expressed confidence of a resounding victory in the House of Assembly election in Anambra State and beyond.

“APGA is controlling and will continue to control a comfortable majority in the house. There is no other political party in Anambra State.

“The only party here is APGA. Forget about PDP and APC. They are just pretenders. What happened two weeks ago was a contraption. It wouldn’t be a parameter to measure the performance of APGA.”

While saying that he doesn’t have problems with the turn out of the last election, he hailed the state Governor, Willie Obiano for standing up for what he saw as a right course.

The national chairman said that the governor was on the part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term return because he saw it as the best options for the Igbos.

He described it as a brave decision to make saying that politics is not a game of sentiment

Oye further commended the electorate for turning en masse to vote describing the process as smooth, peaceful and credible even as he observed that the turnout was more than that of two weeks ago.
