Comparing the standard of music in other countries and that of Nigeria, it is obvious that the industry is experiencing massive growth, in rhythm, lyrical content and general production.

In this piece, Maggie’s Blog makes a list of newbreed Nigerian artistes who have continued to push out good musical pieces which control the airwaves and have as well put good money in their pockets.

TENIOLA APATA

Twenty six years old drummer, songwriter, singer and rap artiste, known popularly as Teni Makanaki began her music career officially in 2016 when she dropped her debut track ‘Fargin’. Ever since, the songster who hails from Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria, has not ceased to drop amazing tunes that have gradually sailed into the heart of Nigerian music lovers.

Teni the Entertainer’s big break came when she left Magic Fingers Records and signed to Osadolor Asemota’s Dr. Dolor Entertainment in 2017. She dropped ‘Fake Jersey’ and it had massive sales.

In 2018, Teniola stole the hearts of Nigerians with ‘Case’, and ‘Pray’ in which she had Igbo lyricist, Phyno, as a feature.

Her latest single is ‘Uyo Meyo’.

TOBECHUKWU OKOH

His father got him a keyboard when he was seven years of age. His dream was to become a medical doctor but along the line, he dropped out of medical school for music. Talk about passion!

Currently signed to GoldenBoy Entertainment and Davido Music Worldwide, Peruzzi, as he is popular known, is a topnotch music composer, songwriter and singer.

He came into limelight with his ‘For Your Pocket’ in 2017; other of his major hits being ‘Mata’ and ‘Tatashe’. Among many other features, Tobechukwu’s biggest was that with the Nigerian Pop legend, Innocent Idibia (2Face) in ‘Amaka’ released in 2018.

ANIDUGBE DANIEL

Having changed his name from Kiss Daniel to Kizz Daniel in May 2018, one would have concluded a bad year for the resplendent songwriter. But the young man who switched from G-Worldwide Entertainment to his own FlyBoy Inc dropped amazing songs that have earned him a special spot in the heart of pop music lovers.

From ‘No Do’ to ‘Baba’ and ‘One Ticket’ with Davido, Daniel’s songs have been hits back to back. We can only pray for better years ahead for the songbird.

CHINKO EKUN

Oladipo Olamide Emmanuel is a fast-rising indigenous rap artiste who have taken advantage of the dance trends in the Nigerian music industry and made name for himself.

Because of his ‘Able God’ with Zlatan and Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun is gradually becoming a household name in street music.

He is one artiste to watch out for as the years roll on.

DAMINI OGULU

Twenty-seven-year old Afrobeat singer who hails from Rivers State, South-South Nigeria, Burna Boy has become one of the biggest names in the industry today.

The ‘Yawa’ crooner has humans of all ages and across all the continents dancing to the rhythm of his oomph music.

The Afro god has been a big name since ‘Like To Party’ in 2012, ‘Heaven’s Gate’, ‘Gbona’ and ‘On The Low’ as well as several other features.
