Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, declared on Saturday at the Umuahia Township Stadium that President Muhammadu Buhari “must go” before he damages Nigeria beyond redemption.

Speaking at the PDP presidential mega campaign rally in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Atiku noted that the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led Federal Government had destroyed Nigeria’s economy.

He said this was evident in the loss of jobs by about 21 million Nigerians in less than four years of APC rule.

The former Vice President, however, promised to salvage the economy by creating millions of jobs for unemployed Nigerians, with an assurance that the country would reclaim her lost glory when he becomes the next president.

For Nigeria’s redemption to materialise on February 16, he urged Nigerians to protect their votes by not leaving the polling centres till results are released because of alleged plot by the APC to rig the forthcoming polls.

“Buhari must go,” he said.

Similarly, the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, alleged plots to rig the forthcoming polls through various means, including importation of voters from Chad and Niger Republics.

Secondus, however, warned that his party would not accept the result of any rigged elections.

Also speaking, Vice Presidential Candidate of PDP, Mr Peter Obi, stressed that no government would favour Abia more than the one headed by Atiku.

He assured that Atiku would create jobs, check hunger and return Abia to its past glory.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, echoed Obi’s sentiments when he also enjoined Abians to support the Atiku-Obi ticket, adding that it would be well with Abia if the duo emerges victorious.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, speaking on behalf of his colleagues in the National Assembly from the state, said that apart from supporting the Atiku-Obi ticket, Abians should equally ensure the election of all National Assembly candidates from the state to facilitate their penetration of the Federal Government when the PDP Presidential Candidate and his Vice would have formed the next government at the centre.

Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers gave their royal blessing to Atiku with the chieftaincy title of Aha Eji Agamba.

The mega rally was attended by PDP heavy weights, including state former Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, Senators Dino Melaye and Mao Ohuabunwa, among others.
