Acting Head, Media & Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Tony Orilade, has expressed surprise at media reports that the commission’s acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, may lose his position unless President Muhammadu Buhari changes his mind.

Orilade, who spoke with News Express correspondent on Friday, said: “What is his offence? Is removal from office the reward for hard work? Has Ibrahim Magu not performed? With a 312 unprecedented convictions in 2018 and five already in 2019, billions of naira recoveries, assets, he has done well.

“I think Nigerians should be thinking of how to reward him rather than evil plot and unsubstantiated cock and bull stories going round.”

The reports, on Thursday, had claimed that the EFCC boss may be asked to pursue further studies in order to advance his career in the Nigeria Police Force where he is already a commissioner, as the Presidency has reportedly vetted two top police chiefs as replacement.
