Friday’s flag-off of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, “is a mockery and a total failure,” the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said shortly after the event ended.
According to a statement by PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan, “The cold response to Buhari by the scanty crowd also shows how much Nigerians now begrudge him over his failures in governance.
“Buhari further embarrassed himself on his claims of commitment towards the war against corruption when he was surrounded at the podium, by individuals who are facing corruption allegations, including the DG of his Campaign, Rotimi Amaechi, Adams Oshiomhole & Godswill Akpabio.”
The statement advised Buhari “to use his failed campaign flag-off to know that no amount of crowd renting, vote-buying and intimidation of opposition can change the resolve of Nigerians to vote him out of office, come February 16, 2019.”
