The ouster, today, of embattled Governor Murtala Nyako by the Adamawa State House of Assembly has been described as a victory for the people of the state.
“This is a victory for the people of Adamawa State,” public affairs commentator Emmanuel Ado told News Express.
“Nyako was a disaster. The challenge now facing Adamawa State stakeholders is to ensure that whoever takes over in the next three months is better than Nyako. He should be someone who will take the state forward,” Ado, who is an authority on Adamawa political affairs, added.
As reported earlier by News Express, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Umaru Fintri, will serve as Acting Governor following the impeachment of Nyako and the last-minute resignation of his deputy James Bala Ngilari.
Both men had been accused of corruption by Adamawa lawmakers and refused to appear before a panel set up by the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate the allegation.
