Members of staff of the National Assembly have made a new demand for a better welfare package with a four-day warning strike. The strike started with a protest at the Assembly premises this morning (Monday, Dec. 17, 2018). The decision to renew their protest was taken on Friday, in a meeting called on the platform of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN). The demands of PASAN include a new condition of service for members, promotion and payment of 28 per cent increment in salary captured as contained in the 2018 budget. The association’s move had become necessary following nonchalant attitude of the national assembly leadership to toward their demands. The workers carried out the protest and picketed offices within the assembly. They are demanding to be put on the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).
