The Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Prince Lawrence Eze, has declared that the fortunes of the party in the state are on the rise and pose a big threat to the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Eze, a royal blood better known as the Prince of Mburubu, stated this in Enugu on Friday while responding to questions from journalists during the visit of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, to the state.

Eze noted that the PDP had continually peddled lies that there is no APC presence in the city, arguing that the outcome of the visit proved otherwise.

He said: “I will use this opportunity to welcome Professor Yemi Osibanjo to Enugu, the Coal City state, the city for all Igbos. The visit of the vice president to Enugu State today has further energised the APC in the state. It has proven too that Enugu APC has life in it, that Enugu APC has taken over the entire Enugu State. The PDP is diminished completely, and APC has risen. So there is obviously a lull in their camp but this has energised and encouraged our members. For the very first time, the Vice President is welcomed to Enugu State on the tarmac of the airport by teeming supporters of the APC. It has never happened before, this is because they have always been fed with the wrong impression that there is no APC here but today, what has transpired shows that Enugu State has become purely an APC state.”

The Prince of Mburubu debunked rumours that his party is pro-violent, insisting it is most peaceful in all their dealings: “For those of us in APC, we are very law abiding. APC has never at any point in time been associated with any form of violence and obviously, we ensure that our teeming supporters maintain peace that we have all enjoyed in the state. Enugu State APC is a peaceful people,” he said.
