Protesting members of the Non Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU), Osun State University (UNIOSUN) chapter on Wednesday locked out parents and relatives of graduating students of the institution.

The protesting members, who locked the main gates, leading to the university were demonstrating against the non-payment of their May and June salaries by the university’s management.

Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the development forced large number of the parents, who came for the 6th convocation ceremony of the university to park their vehicles on the stretch of Osogbo-Ibokun road, while some of them had to trek long distance to into the premises of the institution.

The Vice chancellor of the university, Professor Labode Popoola, had last week at the pre convocation press conference said the NASU members were not paid their salaries for failing to sign attendance register after a strike action in May and for shunning duties in June, contending that the Visitor to UNIOSUN and governor of Osun State mandated the management of the university to invoke “No Work, No Pay” rule.
