Former Vice President of Uganda, from 2003-2011, Dr. Gilbert Bukenya, has said that if he were a Nigerian, that he would vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections, Atiku Abubakar.Dr. Bukenya who has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Makrere also said that he would vote for Atiku Abubakar without hesitation or reservation because, “on an individual basis, he is unequivocally the best candidate.”

According to the former Ugandan Vice President, Abubakar is so passionate about the common good of the ordinary Nigerian that he never ceases to say “my people.”

Dr. Bukenya said he was left with so much to contemplate, during his encounter with Abubakar, that he never stopped thinking of how Nigerians are so lucky having the person of Atiku Abubakar as a Nigerian.

He said when he heard Abubakar had joined the presidential race, he immediately thought, “what an extraordinary opportunity Nigerians have.”
