Politicians in Abia State have been told to respect and adhere to the Abia Charter of Equity that ensures that Abia South Senatorial Zone completes its two tenures just like Abia North and Abia Central did, “in the interest of fairness, justice and equity as enshrined in the Abia Charter”.

The elders stated this in a communiqué issued at the end of its 5th Plenary Session which took place on Thursday, 5th of November, 2018, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, and signed by its President-General, Prof J. O. Irukwu SAN, Deputy President-General, H.E. O. S. Ike-Nwachukwu and Secretary-General, Prof Uche Ikonne.

According to the elders, the call has become necessary “in order to create an egalitarian society and a peaceful Abia State”.

The Council also spoke on other issues bordering on Restructuring and the need for peace in Abia State.
